About Kemdirim

Hi! I'm Kemdirim, a lawyer turned designer in London. I grew up in Cotonou, Benin – a french speaking country in West Africa my parents moved to when i was 10. I started creating designs for my dad’s church when i was 15 including the first version of the church’s logo. You can see my design archive on my internets.archive. I currently work with a group of smart people building deployment tools for the web at Brimble. Before that, I spent almost 2 years at IOHK as a Senior product designer.

In my spare time, I work on a bunch of side projects like Apron, a book study project to help designers find knowledge by reading at whatbook.design, and creating free portfolio websites for designers using Framer. Oh, I also play bass guitar and make music on my phone with Caustic.

WHAT DRIVES ME?

Curiosity drives me, like many African kids from my generation, my family wanted me to become a lawyer or a doctor and for several years I pursued goals to please my family. However it wasn't long before curiosity pulled me into learning about software engineering, art and philosophy during my time studying law in University.

Additionally I am driven by how complex our world has become, how the lines between humans and computers have become less opaque, now more than ever, and how we need more people who are curious about making things that matter for the people who need them the most.

I immerse myself in brilliant talkspapersdemosbooks and prototypes that offer potential solutions for these problems. My goal is to learn from the brilliant people around me and help craft a better more sustainable future for everyone.

WRITING

I write sometimes, often simple ideas or deep dives into simple topics such as Typefaces, Figma, UX design on Medium.
